Just thought I'd post a teaser to some WIPs: Humanoid Mechs! These are just quick test builds and have not had the edges colored or any other refinements (please ignore the glue smudges on the legs). They still need some tweaking to align better, but I think we're on the right track. Please let us know what you think.

Here's a glimpse of some test builds of the updated Light Mechs. I haven't colored the edges yet, because these were just test fit. I've made some alterations to the basic mech designs and Dagger's mechs. In addition to adding humanoid mechs, these new design changes include: split torsos to give variation in arm placement, different arm positions, slotted legs instead of folded ones, three different leg types with three different positions, unified weapon slot sizes, and multiple weapon slot positions. The last mech on the right is actually the humanoid design legs with the standard cockpit. I've had to alter the humanoid shoulder placement, but haven't had a chance to test build it yet. So I included it with the standard cockpit to show how the parts are interchangeable.

Wow!!! I'm loving the variety with the modular approach. The humanoid looks GREAT with weapons mounted.

I've also discovered some of the cool things you can do with just a little bending. If you look at the two Mechs on the left side of the group photo, I bent back the rear mounted arms to accommodate the forward torso mounted weapons and equipment.

I really like the new look. Both the light mechs and the humanoid mechs. They give a very different design asthetic to the classic styles.
Please keep the Classics around too. You can never have too many bits and pieces available.

The classics are there but with a few design changes (uniform weapon slots between different sizes, leg positions and attachment, etc.). This will keep the players older minis from being out of place next to the new ones. I've always hated when a company makes changes that cause you to need to replace your whole collection of minis...

The new 'standard' mech designs look fantastic.
I'm not much liking the humanoid ones though. Good design work on them for sure but to me they look more like other game's mechs and don't seem to fit the style unique to Mech Attack.

While I probably won't use the humanoid Mech too much, I do understand the need to appeal to a larger audience. So, I say, keep it up and crank out those designs. Besides, one of these days I might want to use the humanoid ones, either as they are or bits off them to help me make something unique!
Keep up the awesome work

So, this is where I take back the previous statement. While traveling Spain and France with my son this spring break (awesome, BTW ;D), I started reading the book by Dan Abnett, Titanicus. Now, I have a reason to use the Humanoid Mech design. I can use the original small Mech as my War Hounds and a large Humaniod Mech for my Warlord Mechs. With these, I can recreate some of the battles in the book. Too kewl. Now, If there were some Corrupt Mechs . . .

I'll have to check out Titanicus. Right now I'm hooked on Scott Westerfield's Leviathan and Behemoth. Chocked full of steam/dieselpunk walkers, genetic constructs, and alternate WWI history. Stay tuned for a post of the new Medium Mech designs. I should be posting pics of the test builds in the next week or two. They would have been finished sooner, but I lost a file and I've had to redo everything from an incomplete backup version. But they're almost finished and I actually like them better than the ones I lost! I also had a few days delay as my wife and I got the barn ready for these guys:
