Well you asked for it : ) here are my home-rules for Vehicle Design.
To give you an idea why I wanted to change the already excellent rules, it came down to wanting to have tanks that had a main turreted gun and a secondary, non turreted weapon. I also liked the idea of tanks being able to carry a light vehicle instead of Troops. Finally, I wanted mahoosive tanks. As you can see there's a leap in Bp cost for Heavy Vehicles - I believe that there should be a point of diminishing returns for the Uber units / weapons, consequently the larger stuff starts being less cost effective.
In order to allow for all of these wants, you can see that I've had to increase the max Bp scores for Medium and Heavy vehicles (not much point allowing for greater flexibility in weapon systems without increasing the spend limits).
Light Vehicles Cost : 3 Max BP : 5 Mv : 4 Tp : 4 Armour : 30 Weapons : May choose 1 turreted light weapon
Medium Vehicles Cost : 4 Max BP : 7 Mv : 3 Tp : 4 Armour : 40 Turret : May choose 1 turreted medium weapon or two light weapons (one may be turreted)
Heavy Vehicles Cost : 6 Max BP : 10 Mv : 3 Tp : 4 Armour : 50 Turret : May choose 1 turreted heavy weapon or 1 medium and 1 light weapon (one may be turreted) or 3 light weapons (one may be turreted)
Extras
Armour : +1 BP for each row of 10 Engine : +1 BP for each upgrade (max +2 BP). 1st upgrade = +1 Mv 2nd upgrade = +1 Tp Cargo Bay : +1 BP for 1 Troop capacity / +2 BP for light vehicle - only available to Heavy Vehicles / Max +2 BP
