I had a quick rules question, are there any house rule ideas or stats on using Heavy Vehicles? I just realized the tank I built is using a heavy weapon on a medium vehicle. I didn't realize until I read a thread on here about it but I still want to try heavy vehicles wile still being balanced with the rulebook. Also I should explain I decided to glue the weapons on (they wobbled, think I cut the slots too big) so I can't just swap weapons, Lol. I figured either I could build two new ones or possibly a house rule for now Lol. Tho I was also thinking about a simple fix too for now and that is I could just stat it like a medium twin linked weapon. It would just look like the heavy version but still be with in the rules, Lol. Hopefully it wouldn't get confusing Lol.

The rules for constructing vehicles will be updated in the next version of Mech Attack. For now I would just rename the vehicle classes from Ultra Light, Light, and Medium to Light, Medium, and Heavy respectively. Then use the appropriate sized weapon (or smaller) based on the new class name. Maybe also add 1 or 2 Bp to the Max Bp rating to allow for the beefed up weapons.
As long as all players agree, feel free to tweak the rules and make up new ones as you see fit. Keep in mind that a lot of thought and playtesting went in to keeping things balanced. We certainly don't mind house rules, but just be careful to keep things fair and fun to play.

Also I should explain I decided to glue the weapons on (they wobbled, think I cut the slots too big) so I can't just swap weapons, Lol. For wobbly weapons, I take a tooth pick and apply a small amount of glue from a glue stick to the weapon and/or the hardpoint slot. This gives the weapon enough stick to hold it in place, but not strong enough to keep from swapping it out later.

That was my first thought was just to rename them respectively but noticed it didn't leave enough Bp for much. I tried adding 1-2 Bp after the name change but in the end it would still put them roughly where they were before the name change for stats. I decided to just try and add a heavy class with 2 extra Bp and 1 less Tp and add it too the mods below for turrets and static turrets (also I added the word "up to". I figured it's making clear that you can have the weapon sizes below it also, Lol). This puts the heavy class above the medium class but still below the mechs in most areas like Bp, Mv, Hard Points, and such. I think this is what were going to try today in our game and see how it works out. From looking it over it seems to be balanced in the rules close enough to the other vehicles and mechs. Also it still leaves the Ultra-Light class as an available option with out changing anything in the classes. What do ya think (I need criticism, Lol)? ________________________________________________________ House Rule for Custom Vehicles (This House Rule is Optional.) Vehicle Frames: Ultra-Light Max Bp – 4 Mv – 5 Tp – 5 Hull Options: 1 Light Max Bp – 5 Mv – 4 Tp – 4 Hull Options: 2 Medium Max Bp – 6 Mv – 3 Tp – 4 Hull Options: 2 Heavy Max Bp – 8 Mv – 3 Tp – 3 Hull Options: 2 The following options are available to complete your Vehicle: Armor: 1 Bp for each row of 10 Engine Upgrade: 1 Bp (+1 Mv first upgrade, +1 Tp second upgrade) (limit 2 Upgrades) Hull Options: •Cargo Bay – 1 Bp for a Cargo Capacity of 1 Troop Unit (Limit 2) •Turret – Ultra-Lights and Lights may equip one Light item. (Limit 1) Mediums may equip up to one Medium item. (Limit 1) Heavys may equip up to one Heavy item. (Limit 1) •Static Mount – Lights may equip two Light items, (Counts as 2 Hull Options). Mediums may equip up to two Medium items, (Counts as 2 Hull Options). Heavys may equip up to two Heavy items, (Counts as 2 Hull Options).

Ok here's the review for the house rules above. I played about four games with the house rules for heavy vehicles and so far it balances out great. The heavy vehicle puts up a great fight as well (and a sense of fear when facing one) and with the twin linked turrets it leaves them with around 40 for armor, so as your getting hit you still feel like your in the heat of battle and close to something blowing up. I think 8 is a perfect Max Bp as well since anymore than that is getting into the area of being over powered and with 8 Bp you still feel like your giving up a fair amount of armor to have a heavy weapon (basically trading defense for possibly short term power). Also I left it as two weapon mounts possible since that is the max available for the critical hit chart (that way it's still possible to cripple a heavy vehicle). Also having the Tp at 3 is perfect as well since bigger unit, bigger target. I figured Mv would stay at 3 from the medium unit since 2 would just be crawling and way to slow (still perfect for the unit size). Also I like the idea of still having four classes available for base vehicles.
