Has anyone else noticed that the price of a Silhouette SD cutter has gone up? Not too long ago it was $179 at overstock.com, now it's more like $230... I can't find anything less then $220, and that's before shipping....
What about a CraftRobo, I think that's the earlier version before the Silhouette SD... anybody know the difference between the two?

I'm no expert, but as far as I know CraftRobo is just the name the Silhouette cutter is sold under in europe. There might be minor differences like one being optimized for A4, while the other uses Letter. The World Works Games forums have a lot of info on the cutters, this thread deals with your specific question.

Just because us Yanks use different words like Color instead of Colour, Gray instead of Grey, or Armor instead of Armour... that doesn't mean we need different names for EVERYTHING...(sheesh)
Thanks for the info, that clears up most of my confusion... I'm definitely wanting to get one now...

Could you guys clarify what an SD cutter is? Is it something that makes cutting out paper minis a lot easier (I hope!)?

You guessed it. It's similar to an inject printer... but instead of printing it cuts. You use GSD files to tell the cutter where to cut. It's intended for making stencils, vinyl lettering, and other crafts... but it works great for paper models too...

I bought mine when they were brand new for only 120$ shipped. lol The word is getting out about them now. That retarded Cricut thing that is showing up in Michaels and even Big Lots now is giving the Silhouette SD (Or Graphtec 330L Robocutter; whatever ;-) a bad name. Cricut makes you buy uber expensive clipart cartridges, like for 80$ (I'm NOT kidding) and you get the equivalent of that horrible early 1990's clipart for scrapbooking and I'm guessing special olympics celebrations. I'm really not entirely sure what the point is, offhand.
Silhouette SD is an amazing machine that litterally, once you have, you will almost never pick up a hobby knife again, except to pick out the bits that are a little too tiny to just snap out of the page. Frankly, I don't buy any papercraft that's not robocutter ready anymore. Mel Ebbles, SquirmyDad and OneMonk deserve the credit for really kicking off this revolution! Here's a video I made just now showing you exactly what the robocutter can do for you.
