I'm wondering what the intended difference between mechs and vehicles are. In the current incarnation, it seems that mechs are large and expensive, while vehicles are small and cheap.
In my mind, the benefit of a mech is that that they're so flexible. They can step over walls, walk over rubble, and weave between trees. They're also more nimble and are able to utilize cover effectively.
Vehicles are much more tactically limited, but are extremely efficient. You can get a lot more armour and weapons on a tank than a mech of the same weight due to their mechanical simplicity.
So vehicles would have the advantage in open fields where their superior armour and firepower can be brought to bear, while mechs are better suited to crowded environments where they can outmaneuver vehicles and take potshots from cover.
Heh. I've been bouncing around ideas for my own mech tabletop game for a few months, and I guess it shows. Thank you both for beating me to the punch and saving me a lot of work! :-p

One of the key differences is that you can have a variety of weapons on a Mech, but you have to worry about the heat expense. Vehicles on the other hand have limited weapons but don't have to deal with heat and have a lower Bp cost.

Vehicles are intended to play a supporting role along with infantry... with Mechs being the heavy hitters. Mechs have more armor, more weapons, but must deal with heat... Vehicles have less armor, fewer weapons, but are cheaper and less expensive. I also view vehicles as being faster and more agile than a Mech.... Mechs are bigger and have more mass to muscle around when turning.

Ah, so it's really a spotlight thing - the Mechs are the centre of attention. Gotcha.

I know it's kinda obvious, but the game is called Armor Grid: Mech Attack, after all. ;D I did like your breakdown of how you'd use vehicles in comparison to your mechs, though. One of these days I'll actually get to play a game.
