I've been slowly working on an Excel/OpenOffice file for creating Mech Record Sheets. Attached is an example of a medium mech. Attachments:

That's great! Any chance to include a mini grid after each weapon so you can fill in the Damage Pattern?

Very cool... now if you could just create drop down lists off too the side that would auto-populate the stat card...(grin)

Actually, I did start working on a Mech designer version with drop downs. Don't expect anything too professional looking, I'm still learning. ;D

Started working on the "mech designer" spreadsheet, complete with drop down menus. It's pretty rough, and not ready for primetime, or anytime for that matter. I started doing this just for me as a learning experience.
Just curious - when you're designing a mech do you already have an idea of what size rating you want?

I usually start by building my miniature in a way that I think looks cool and then seeing how it fits... I do usually select the size first to fill a spot in my army, and then select weapons and armaments. I like to have a mathematical balance in my force, but that's the math nerd in me. For every Heavy Mech, I like to have two Mediums. And for every Medium, I like to have two Lights. So it works into a ratio of 1H:2M:4L. I haven't worked the Vehicles and Troops into the equation, but sometimes I use them to fill out the point value requirements for a particular scenario. Yes, I am that weird. ;D

I usually have an idea of what size I'm building before I start... Because that sets the Mv and Tp. But those could be set or updated as the Bp cost goes up.

Attached is a work-in-progress version of the Mech Builder. Please keep in mind that I'm not expert in spreadsheets, so it's not a professional product. There are 3 tabs on the spreadsheet: Mech Builder, Mech Record, and Data. The Mech Builder tab has values/information/equipment to be filled in by the user. These cells are marked in yellow. Once you're done, the Mech Record tab is populated with the appropriate values. Note: the armor grid is not automatically updated. I'd like to try to get that to work in the near future. Any comments/criticisms/etc. are appreciated. Attachments:

Whoops. I discovered an error in the spreadsheet from the previous post. Use this one instead. Attachments:

Very nice... You are definitely on the right track. Great work.
A few ideas:
Instead of manually entering a desired Mv/Tp/Hv you could have drop downs that function the same as the weapons. Mv and Tp are both tied to Engine Upgrades... so if the Engine upgrade is Level 1 then Mv/Tp are +1/+0 and if the Engine upgrade is Level 2 then Mv/Tp are +2/+0. Hv would be its own separate drop down.
Would it be possible to incorporate the drop downs into the stat card itself? Maybe have a front and back... the front for the core stats and armor grid and the back is where you would have the upgrade options and weapon options. That way you would only need two tabs instead of three.
Also, keep in mind that 2.0 will change the process a bit... so there will need need to be some adjustments at that point. (hint: Bp limits for Mechs will be Light=10, Medium+15, and Heavy=20)

Thanks for the suggestions, Dagger! I'm not sure when I'll get some more time to work on this, but probably over the long weekend.
So, when can we expect version 2.0 to be out?!?! It'll be no problem to make the changes or add weapons (PEW, Flamer, etc.).

Working on it... I'm chewing on ideas for the Aircraft. I want them to function on the battlefield differently than the other units.
