I picked a good day to check the spam folder... not sure how Armor Grid ended up in there, but it won't happen again!
I was super excited to see this release, as "more and heavier vehicles" was definitely something I wanted to see for this game.
One question: Where are the rules/base profile for heavy vehicles? Everything else looks like it more-or-less follows the existing vehicle construction rules (possible exception: turret vs. fixed mount weapon quantities...), but I'd like to know what I'm allowed to do with the heavy vehicle assembly so I can start gluing these things together!

Xavion - The currently published version of the rules (1.5) refers to the vehicle classes as Ultra-Light, Light, and Medium. This was an attempt to differentiate the vehicle classes from the mech classes. A good idea at the time, but it ended up being a little confusing and unnecessary. So in the next version (2.0) the vehicle classes will be in line (by name) with the mech classes (Light, Medium, Heavy). So a version 1.5 Medium vehicle will be referred to as a Heavy vehicle in version 2.0. That should be better than having two different class naming conventions for vehicles and mechs.
That being said, there will also be some tweaked and expanded vehicle construction rules in version 2.0 which will support more weapon options.

Ah, I had thought you were expanding the range of vehicles to run from Ultra-Light to Heavy... my mistake.
Well, in that case, there appear to be way too many weapons on some of those "medium" vehicles! Is there an ETA on the 2.0 rules so I know what I'm looking at?

There's no such thing as too many weapons! ;D
The models in the photos are only meant to be what is possible with the kit, not what is feasible with the rules. One of the ideas that I had was to equip a vehicle with a twin-linked weapon (ie: twin-linked laser) by the rules, but for the model mount two of the same weapons (non-twin-linked versions) at the same hardpoint/turret. This way you get a new look for twin-linked weapons, but without any changes to the rules. Just make sure all players know you have a twin-linked laser and not two regular lasers.

*gasp* false advertising! I am shocked, SHOCKED by this revelation!
All kidding aside, the rules at present allow for ultra-lights (now lights) and lights (now mediums) to utilize light weapons, and mediums (now heavies) to utilize medium weapons; I would assume from the weapons included in the PDF that vehicles now follow the same weight class restrictions as mechs, and heavy vehicles can now use heavy weapons?
EDIT: I totally understand if the 2.0 rules aren't quite ready and you're not prepared to answer just yet... you can tell me to go sit quietly and wait, heh. An ETA on the revised ruleset was all I was really after anyway ;D

I must admit I'm a little behind on my 2.0 work. I've been deployed for the last 7 months. I had hoped to get some development time in on this deployment, but this one has been busier than the last. It seems that with the draw-down there is more work to go around for those of us still here....(Grrr).
That being said... Yes, there will be the possibility of having a Heavy weapon on a vehicle. Like a modern-day mobilized Howitzer: you can have a BIG gun, but it will cost you armor and maneuverability... so choose wisely.

Sounds good... I suppose it won't hurt to assemble a few speculative vehicles (including some mobile artillery, naturally) until you have an opportunity to finish the update.
Thanks for your work in putting out such an enjoyable game, and stay safe out there until it's time to come home.

I'm giving this a bump because I had to delete a spammer and it messed up the chronological order of the news threads. Grumble, grumble, grumble... And in case you've been wondering: Armor Grid Games and Miniatures is NOT promoting mail order spouses! I hope you've had a chance to check out "Armor Grid: Motor Pool". Please let us know what you think.
