Starting Mech Attack!

I started building components to play Mech Attack and it is an absolute blast! So far I've built two Heavy Tanks, one in Gray and one in Tan. The tan tank has twin linked lasers and the gray one has twin linked machine guns. I've also built a forest tile for some cover and a building for objectives and also more cover. I cheated a little on the trees, I just cut around and filled the white spots in with black marker. On the building I used only half the corner pieces and colored the back of the points with black marker, it made for quicker assembly and still looks good (To me, Lol). I also haven't edged anything yet.

I printed the core rulebook and the terrain rulebook and placed them in page sleeves in a three ring binder. I also laminated all the cards, that way I can use wet erase markers with them.

I still have to cut out the tokens, they are laminated as well. I'm also using a small dark green fleece blanket for now as a playing field (It looks better than the wood table, Lol).

Here is a couple things I built today. I made a Tan/Green tracked light vehicle (buggy) with a rocket launcher for the Tan side and a second one in Gray with a rocket launcher.

I also laminated and cut out some rubble tokens and I got the other laminated tokens cut out, along with laminated rulers (you can tell I love laminating, Lol).

I hope to get a game in tomorrow so hopefully by then I can get one more unit made for each side. ;D

What kind of laminator do you have and how does it work? I'm guessing that you laminate the pages before cutting them out, but doesn't that interfere with the parts that have to be glued back to back? Just curious...

The Laminator I use is a Scotch TL901 I bought it from Walmart, I want to say they cost around $30. A pack of 50 full size laminating sheets from Walmart cost around $13 and the smaller sheets are 20 - 25 sheets I think and usually are under $6. The laminator itself has two settings: 3mil and 5+mil. For cardstock (well so far anything) I set it to 5+mil since I assume it gets a little hotter to melt the pouch to it (that's an assumption tho, Lol).

For the cards that I planed on using wet erase with I used the smaller sheets and didn't cut to the paper. That way when wiping them off it wont get to the paper along the edge.

As for cutting to the edge of paper it doesn't mess with it at all, it in some way (not 100% sure how, I think it's a coating inside the pouch) melts the plastic to the paper so even if I tried to peel the laminate off it would peel the paper with it.

Also so far most of the pieces I cut out them laminate. The rubble markers and rulers I did this way. The other tokens I cut out after laminating.

I also I got a light Mech done in Tan with two machine guns. I still have to make a Gray one and the rubble markers for them.

Here is some pictures of the battle field during mid play of a couple games. The Tan side won both times but that's only due to I was just learning the core mechanics of the game with what I had built so far and didn't do a limit on max over all Bp per side. I really love how Mech Attack plays, it truly is a blast to play! ;D

Also a side note, after these games I ended up putting another machine gun on the mech and a RGMS.

I'm hoping to get a couple more mechs built this weekend and pictures taken of them. I also really want to try and see how the water tiles would look laminated, I think it would look better and really neat with a shiny appearance.

I also want to try to get a couple games in, which also reminds me I need to quit putting off making a couple troop units, that way I can finally use them in combat, Lol.

A couple home maintenance projects came up which kept me from building anything for these past few weeks but hoping to be back into building mode for Mech Attack this weekend, Lol.

I'm hoping to get some more pics posted soon of my model builds. I'm rebuilding my mech attack army since most of them I built before I read the rules and fully understood the point balance and weapon size limits, so I figured it was about time to update them lol!

Yeah it's a great game and by far my favorite! Just now getting ready to build more, I got myself a nice PC since my last one I had for some time finally went out. I also picked me up a new printer for my birthday a few days ago that has separate color cartridges so no more wasting ink on tri-color cartridges. I'm hoping this weekend to get to printing and building since I got a few days off lol.

Just got, 60-70+ pages of Mech Attack stuff printed today, I'm definitely loving this new printer lol. I should have a bunch of new model pics and gameplay to show off soon lol!

I'm also thinking of trying out a house rule idea I had for hero units, one per army and extra build points to use when building one?

Edit: I've also considered looking into a house rule for launching Smoke Grenades for cover and possibly some type of energy shield for lasers, magnetic shield for bullets, and armor for rockets, these wouldn't completely block damage, just have a chance to reduce it a little, and add a bit more along the lines of defense for units?

Went back and updated my old pics, didn't realize Photobucket is now charging for 3rd party hosting so I switched to Imgur.

Also finally got some free time now that we got move into our new house and all our main house projects done, so I'm getting my collection rebuilt so I can get to playing some Mech Attack again!
