Hey All,
First post here on the forums. I recently purchased the Mech Attack bundle and Mech Factory and am having a ton of fun looking at customizability of the minis. I actually bought it all as a way to build inexpensive minis to play Heavy Gear Blitz - had demo'd Battletech at GenCon this summer (WAY too crunchy!) and found HGB as a reasonably rules-lite alternative, so I picked up the starter box for that game at the con. I know I'd never be spending the $$$ on metal minis and since coming home have been scouring the web for paper alternatives. I found AG:MA and it's nearly perfect. Truth be told, I wish now I hadn't dropped $50 on HGB and just found this first. Still, I do like the rules and want to use them, so I intend to use the full line of AG minis to do so, which leads me to my questions...
The design of HGB mechs is primarily more humanoid than yours are. Picture 15-20' power armor suits more than battletach style robots. The AG humanoid torsos and legs from Mech Factory are perfect across the three sizes. The big missing piece for me is arms and weapons. HGB does use some shoulder-mounts and full arm replacement weapons, but mostly it's humanoid arms with hands and everything, holding oversized guns (or swords and axes!).
Are there any options out there for alternate arms in 2.5D format? I'm comfortable enough in Photoshop to create nd resize arms using weaponry from fantasy (melee weapons) and future/sci-fi (guns/missiles/etc) minis but don't know where to look for arms that match the style of AG mechs...
Also, the PDFs for the base game all seem to be unsecured files that I can import/open in Photoshop, but those are the older style mechs. The humanoid designs are in MF and it's secured so I can't open or edit the designs. Are those designs available someplace? I suppose uncolored would be best, but it's not critical.
Thanks in advance - looking forward to playing around with this stuff!
