My son and I finally got our first game in and the following questions came up:
1) A unit must be within 1" of Cover to claim its advantage. Does it also have to be "behind" the cover, or just within 1"? We played it as if the cover had to be between the attacking unit and its target, but just wanted clairification.
2) Is there any difference between moving from a Level 0 surface to either a Level 1 or a Level 2 surface (hill, for example)? In other words, is it just as easy to go to a Level 2 surface as it is to a Level 1?
3) Do infantry have a facing?
Thanks in advance.

This is my quick two cents as I've played it. I defer "real" answers to Dagger.
1) Units do have to be "behind" cover, that is the cover object has to be on the side of the target between the target and the shooter.
2) I've not worried about any difference in going up or down levels, but I do measure the distance up the angle of the hill. For example: If I was moving a unit across the battlefield and then up onto a hill, I would measure the distance from the unit TO the hill as flat across the ground and then measure the distance from the base of the hill to the top as angled with the terrain. I do use the rules that units may not RUSH up a hill, but may RUSH down. That's just how I do it. Does that make sense?
3) Infantry don't have facing, actually they have 360 degree facing.

I can't see the pics from here (dang proxy) but the write-up is awesome. Thanks for taking the time to do that. 1) Yes, the unit wanting to take cover must be behind the object they want cover from. i.e. Troops behind a Low Wall or a Mech behind a Level 1 Building. If you can draw full Line Of Sight to the target (to all parts of its base), then they cannot claim Cover from anything. 2) Units can only change one Level at a time. Like WaffleM said, if you have at least an uphill slope you can move from Level 0 to Level 1 to Level 2... but not immediately from Level 0 to Level 2. Think of an immediate transition from Level 0 to Level 2 as a cliff. But if the terrain goes straight up from Level 0 to Level 2, consider it an impassable cliff. Keep in mind though, Jump Troops ignore Obstacles and Terrain...(hint, hint, wink, wink) 3) Page 3, Section 5.1 - "Troops have a 360 degree FRONT arc." I think this was a clarification made in the errata update. You can get it for free by re-downloading it from the store.
