What about creating bike and/or hover bike mounted infantry paper models?
They could pack a twinlinked light weapon. hoverbike underslung and regular bike side mounted.
Just a thought...

I can see them implemented as a vehicle.... i.e. Use a vehicle base with 3-4 jetbikes on it to represent a Light vehicle.
Game-wise I don't see infantry on bikes implemented as a Troop unit. A troop unit has a 360 view/firing arc... I don't thing that relates well to the idea of a unit of bikes mostly moving in the same direction.
So... if you have a Light vehicle with 3 Light Machine guns you can represent that on the table using a vehicle base with 3 bikers on it.

It would make a neat looking unit, since the only current unit to use the look of multiple figures on the same base is the troops, lol. True, also I would see the bikes as more of a static mounted light weapon on the front arc of the unit than a turret type mounted weapon. That would work perfectly for a light vehicle as the max Bp is only around 4 so 2-3 points would go into say light machine guns alone, leaving only 1-2 points for armor. That's how I would picture an attack bike anyways, fast yet little to no armor for protection.

I was tinkering about the stats when commuting today.
Hover Mounted Light Infantry Cost – 6 Bp Max Bp – 7 Bp Mv – 6 Tp – 5 Sv – 7 Equipment: 1 mounted Weapon Individual Weapons Jump Packs (Ignore Obstacles/Terrain) Mounted (180 fire arc, +2 Mv, +1 Tp, +2 Sv) (+2BP)
Mounted Light Infantry Cost – 4 Bp Max Bp – 5 Bp Mv – 5 Tp – 5 Sv – 5 Equipment: 1 mounted Weapon Individual Weapons Mounted (180 fire arc, +2 Mv, +1 Tp, +2 Sv) (+2BP)
Attack Bike Ultra-Light Vehicle Max Bp – 4 Mv – 6 Tp – 5 1 engine upgrade Armor: 20 Hull Options: 1 light weapon
points wise the vehicle rules but....jump packs are cool ;D

I like where you're going with the "mounted" trait... I like how the reduced 180 degree firing arc provides a balancing factor.
I'm not sure jump packs would be available to mounted troops though... Hmm...

My thought with the jump packs was to get access to the rule they provide. Think of it as an abstaction of the flight capability provided by the hover jets on the hover bike. ::)eldar jet bike

Hover capability would allow Troops to ignore rough terrain... whereas Jump Jets allow troops to ignore obstacles. I don't see jet bikes ignoring obstacles.
Maybe "mounted" with an optional "hover" upgrade? 1Bp for "mounted" and another 1Bp for the "hover" upgrade. The difference in Mv and Tp would need to be playtested for balance...

Oops missed that. I really like the hover trait.
What about this:
Mount upgrades First +1 bp +2 Mv, +2 Sv, 180 fire arc Second +1 bp +1 Tp, ignore terrain

Or...
Troop option:
Mounted (1Bp): +2Mv, +5Sv, 180 Degree Firing Arc Hover Upgrade (1Bp): +1Mv, +1Tp, Ignore Rough/Water Terrain
The troops wouldn't be using their individual weapon, they would be using machine guns mounted on the bikes. Not sure if they should still be able to take a crew served weapon or maybe just make the bike's machine guns twin-linked or maybe count them as two machine guns.... dunno...

Shouldn't mounted be a prereq for hover in that case?
The unit should get twin linked machine gun with the option to upgrade it to medium twin linked for 1 bp
Hover could be a vehicle trait also: +1 bp ignore terrain

The unit should get twin linked machine gun with the option to upgrade it to medium twin linked for 1 bp Hover could be a vehicle trait also: +1 bp ignore terrain "Hover" is an upgrade to the "Mounted" troop trait. So a troop has to take "Mounted" and then upgrade it with "Hover" if they want jet bikes instead of dirt bikes. I'd rather restrict troops to Light items... the real benefit of mounted troops is speed, maneuverability, and survivability... leave Medium items to the bigger units. I'm thinking the machine guns mounted on the bikes replace the troops individual weapons... and they can still choose a light "crew served weapon' (it's just mounted on one of the bikes). That way you can have a unit of troops on bikes with the equivalent of a Light Machine Gun and something useful like a RGMS or AMDS.

I'm a happy puppie with that. Still maybe the mounted and hover upgrades needs to be tweaked a bit. I was thinking like mounted only gives +3Sv and hover replaces the +1Mv with +2Sv.

I'm trying to keep Sv in multiples of 5... I just like that the +5 bump in Sv represents the idea of the bikes absorbing some of the damage that the unit takes. It doesn't mater if it's a dirt bike or a jet bike...
The +1Tp for Hover represents the idea that a jet bike would be a little harder to target than a dirt bike because of the little bit of extra speed and that it's more agile (it can turn quicker).

Would this be the complete troop options?
Light Infantry Cost - 2 Bp Max Bp – 4 Bp Mv – 3 Tp – 4 Sv – 5 Equipment: 1 Crew Served Weapon Individual Weapons
Heavy Infantry Cost - 3 Bp Max Bp – 5 Bp Mv – 3 Tp – 4 Sv – 10 Equipment: 1 Crew Served Weapon Individual Weapons Jump Infantry Cost – 5 Bp Max Bp – 6 Bp Mv – 4 Tp – 4 Sv – 10 Equipment: 1 Crew Served Weapon Individual Weapons Jump Packs (Ignore Obstacles/Terrain)
Bike Mounted Infantry Cost - 3 Bp Max Bp – 4 Bp Mv – 5 Tp – 4 Sv – 10 Equipment: 1 Crew Served Weapon Individual Weapons Mounted(+2Mv, +5Sv, 180 Degree Firing Arc)
Hover Bike Mounted Infantry Cost - 4 Bp Max Bp – 5 Bp Mv – 6 Tp – 5 Sv – 10 Equipment: 1 Crew Served Weapon Individual Weapons Mounted(+2Mv, +5Sv, 180 Degree Firing Arc) Mounted Hover Upgrade(+1Mv, +1Tp, Ignore Rough/Water Terrain)
It would be really cool to be able to field these as armor grid paper models ;D ;D

Nice... I think the total costs are a little off though. Think of a Troop unit this way:
The base unit (unequipped) costs 0Bp. Individual Weapons cost 1Bp. Each 5 points of Sv cost 1Bp. Crew Served Weapon costs 1 or 2Bp depending on the weapon. Jump Packs cost 1Bp. Mounted costs 1Bp. Mounted Hover Upgrade costs 1 Bp.
I'm thinking the max cost for a Troop unit should be 6.
